2The driver app, step by step

Three steps from app open to load delivered. Tap any step to expand it.

Drivers sign in with their phone number, then enter a one-time code sent by text. No password required.

Tread tracks driver location only while a job is active. No tracking outside active jobs. Allow location access when prompted.

Everything happens from the cab. The driver accepts and starts the job, adds a scale ticket, then stops the job when the load is delivered.

Accept and start

Timesheet entry is rolling out by region. Contact your CSM to confirm availability in your area.

Chapter 2

Setup trucks and drivers.

Add your trucks, drivers, dispatchers, and admins. Same setup, two surfaces. Pick mobile or web depending on where you're working.

2Add your trucks

  1. 1Tap Account
  2. 2Tap Manage Equipment
  3. 3On the next screen, select + Add
  4. 4Enter truck number, type and license, then tap Create

3Add your drivers

  1. 1Tap Account
  2. 2Tap Manage Users for employees on your payroll, or Manage Contract Drivers for outside haulers
  3. 3Tap + Add
  4. 4Fill in the driver details, tap Create

Check Send SMS invite so the driver gets a text to download the app.

4Add dispatchers and admins

  1. 1Tap Account
  2. 2Tap Manage Users
  3. 3Enter the user's name, email, and phone
  4. 4Check the boxes to send an email or SMS invite
  5. 5Pick the right role for the user
  6. 6Tap Submit to create the user

1Log into the Tread web platform

Go to app.tread-horizon.com to get your full account configured.

2Add your trucks

  1. 1Click Settings
  2. 2Click Equipment
  3. 3Click Create Equipment
  4. 4Add the truck number or name and pick an equipment type, click Create

3Add and invite your drivers

  1. 1Click Settings
  2. 2Click Users for employees on your payroll, or Drivers for outside haulers
  3. 3Click Create Driver (or Create User)
  4. 4Fill in the driver's details

4Assign default trucks to drivers

If your drivers typically drive the same truck, pair them once and Tread carries it through.

  2. 2Click Drivers
  3. 3Click into the Equipment box on each driver row and pick their truck

Why this helps

The truck name shows up alongside the driver every time you dispatch them. Fewer clicks, fewer mistakes.

  4. 4Pick the right Role for the user (dispatcher, admin, etc.)

Chapter 3

Dispatch jobs.

From accepting a customer's job to sending it to a driver. Same flow, two surfaces. Pick mobile if you're on the move, web if you're at your desk.

1Accept jobs from your customer

  1. 1Tap Accept All to take every pending job at once
  2. 2Or tap the down arrow ▼ next to the truck count to accept individually
  3. 3Accepted jobs show an Accepted status and are ready to assign

2Open the assignment view

  1. 1Tap the down arrow ▼ next to the order truck count to see assigned trucks
  2. 2Tap + Assign to start adding a driver
Dispatch: tap the down arrow to expand assigned trucks, then tap + ASSIGN

3Pick a driver and send

  1. 1Search for a driver by name or truck number
  2. 2Tap Send to push the job to the driver

What happens next

The driver gets a push notification. They can accept and start the job right from their phone.

1Inbound work first appears in the External tab

  1. 1Work your customer dispatches to you lands in your External tab as an inbound order
  2. 2Orders needing Accept or Decline stay in External, accented for fast review
  3. 3Once you accept a job, that work moves into your regular Orders workflow

Heads up

Orders with a mix of accepted and pending jobs show in both tabs, so what still needs action is always clear.

2Accept jobs from your customer

  1. 1Click Accept on each truck row to take jobs one at a time
  2. 2Or click Accept All at the top of the order to take every pending row at once

3Assign drivers to jobs

  1. 1Click Assign on the job row, a panel opens with Driver and Vendor tabs
  2. 2In the Driver tab, search and pick one of your own drivers
  3. 3In the Vendor tab, pass the job to a multi-truck hauler who'll sub-dispatch

4Send jobs out to drivers

When you're ready to dispatch, drivers get the notification on their phone.

  1. 1Click Send on a single row to dispatch that driver
  2. 2Or click Send All Jobs at the top to push every pending assignment at once
